Aspire Academy’s ongoing links with our local football team, Hull City, were further strengthened in December when two key players, Jordy DeWijs and Reece Burke, appeared off the pitch to talk to our students about their independent journeys into professional sport and the real rigours of daily life as Tigers!
While most people assume that the life as a professional football player is a glamorous one, like any job it takes hours of training and dedication to get to the top. But with the correct attitude, it CAN be done! This was the key message shared with our students: remain onside; work as a team; no foul play and challenge yourself to be the very best that you can be.
The event was well attended and there was a lot of very positive feedback. “It was really interesting to meet Jordy and to hear about his own journey through school”.
