We are well underway with our busiest exam week of the year! Yesterday 100% of year 11 attended their Literature exam. It was by no means an easy exam paper but we were really impressed with all the students, all of whom had a really good go at it and performed really well. Today we had both year 10 and 11 sitting their GCSE Leisure and Tourism exam, and again, another 100% turn out and exemplary behaviour. Well done! Tomorrow there is a small Science exam then onto Maths (Thursday for years 10 and 11) and the second English Literature exam [...]
The KS4 MVE course, requires students to learn the working of cycles, be able to take them apart and put them together again. The group often work on cycles that don't work or are seized up, they recycle, recondition and renovated them back to a working condition. These are now for sale! If you're interested, please call us at Aspire and ask to speak to Mr Arundel. More bikes for sale coming soon!
Thursday brings the end of Mrs Appleyard's time with us. Mrs Appleyard has been 10C's tutor since the group was created. They've had their ups and downs but we are sure they're all really going to miss her. The group will have a leaving meal with Mrs before she goes, this will hopefully be a lovely end to a great few months together.
Aspire Hull today launched their first colour run to raise money for Sports Relief! The idea came from Key Stage 3. KS3 have been studying the Hindu Festival of Holi, learning about the beliefs and traditions of others. This quickly evolved into an amazing fundraising idea. Mr Fletcher's KS4 Construction class did a great job of designing, and then creating and building, the obstacle course. They helped to set it up along with the Vocational Sports group. Mr Pinder's catering group also produced some tasty, high carb after-run snacks, which went down a treat. It was really a great afternoon for [...]
Thanks to Mr Shipp, many students have had the opportunity to explore new worlds, places and times using this amazing 3D Samsung Gear Virtual Reality Headset! The headset allows you to explore, in short films, many different worlds including prehistoric and futuristic. You can go to the theatre or take a moment to relax on an island. You can explore the country of Iceland or be a central character in the film Insurgent. There are hundreds of possibilities. The films are all 360 degree 3D films and are so real he more frightening ones, like the Haunted House can give you [...]

11B took some time out from controlled assessment deadlines and exam revision for a spot of cooking respite with Mr Pinder. The boys took a vote and they decided buns were on the menu of the day. Luckily no-one let Mr Reffin, 11B's tutor, near the cooker. He was happy however, to polish off the finished feasts.
Miss Fores needs a new car! She really needs a new car! Luckily, her group 9X were on hand to help! Using their knowledge, gained from recent maths lessons, they searched and costed a range of buying options during Mr Rico's 'Using percentages in the real world car buying challenge!' Let's hope Miss Fores picks the right one for her!
The bad weather this week certainly hasn't put off our year 10 MVE vocational group. They've continued to maintain, repair and the test the karts on the circuit down at our second site SPACE. Though hot chocolates were needed all around, after being caught in a very heavy downpour. Apparently this is learning about real work, practising tea breaks!
