Last Tuesday, after a long Christmas break, Aspire reopened its doors and got back to business. Tutor groups reunited, but rather than jump straight into subject lessons, the groups were given the chance to bond and catch up with their holiday stories. Students were reminded of the academy expectations, values, sanctions and rewards, and each group worked together to produce an expectations poster for their classrooms. Later they went on to design a group shield, using images and words which they believed captured the individual identity of their groups. Each shield was different and captured the true diversity of Aspire’s student body. After morning break the groups took part in team bonding sessions. As you can see by the photos, the games and activities chosen were also pretty varied.

The day was a huge success and seemed only to strengthen some of the strong bonds that already exist within the academy.
