Our Learning Offer

We aim to provide an outstanding, inspirational education that will empower students to reach their full potential and give them a vision for life and their future.

Our learning offer is diverse and flexible. It enables us to reach students and support them in achieving their goals. It includes:

  • A broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3. The KS3 curriculum has many of the characteristics followed in a mainstream environment in order to aid reintegration. However it also includes unique opportunities for self development and understanding. This includes a bespoke enrichment programme in years 7 to 9; designated CEIAG time; crucial skills development (where identified) and PSHE.

  • A broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 4. Morning sessions offer GCSE and GCSE-equivalent qualifications in; English (GCSE), Mathematics (GCSE), Science (option), ICT (ECDL), Physical Education (NCFE) and Arts qualifications (GCSE). There is a strong focus on the Arts and all students study at least 2 from: Photography; Fine Art; 3D Art; Graphics and/or Textiles.

  • Afternoon sessions focus on enterprise and employability, offering all students a vocational course along with a work skills package, including designated CEIAG time.

  • Small groups of 8 students with a staff-student ratio of 1:4.

  • A flexible approach to learning, where pathways are individualised and tailored to the student need.

  • A student entitlement of up to 9 GCSEs, with the minimum standard set at at least 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths enabling all our students to access post-16 education and training.

  • Personalised literacy and reading programmes for all students to improve achievement. Heavy investment and promotion of reading packages, support and strategies.

  • Enrichment activities built into the curriculum, supporting personal growth, resilience and experiences. Enrichment outside of school hours, including residential visits overseas and physical activity in other contexts such as rock climbing

  • Our learning offer includes a focus on supporting and developing the whole child; with access to mental health nurse support, school nurse support, educational psychologist support and a bespoke target and strategy setting system enabling students to work on their behavioural and social progress.
